Diagraph Corporation Herrin Historical Society Meeting February 27, 2015

Original Bradley stencil machine, used at the Diagraph Bradley
Plant, Ordill area.
Each letter was set by hand on this machine to create the stencils,
originally used for identifying packages.

Andrea, Brigham family descendants and Dan Finke, long time employee at Diagraph Corp.  After the program, many fond stories were shared about the plant and the folks who worked there.  Participants described excellent relationships between management and employees and good times working together.

Marbles Herrin Historical Society Meeting February 13, 2015

HAHS February Program - MARBLE COLLECTIONS

Herrin Area Historical Society will present a program "Marble Collections and Games from a Historical Perspective" by Don Brandon, Herrin and George Little, Marion at 2 p.m. Friday, February 13 at Herrin City Library as part of the society's Guest Lecture program.
Brandon is a retired attorney and a board member of HAHS. Both men are longtime marble collectors. For more than seventy years they have collected marbles for their nostalgia and aesthetic colors and shapes. Brandon has an extensive collection of marbles. At one time he/ had over 9,000 and gave many away to children.

HAHS presents various speakers at their Guest Lecture Program Series quarterly on local, regional and state topics of historical interest. The public is invited. Membership information is available below. Phil Stucker is HAHS president.

Cemetery Memorial Monument 1922

The City of Herrin and
the Herrin Area Historical Society
are sponsoring a memorial to be erected
at the Herrin City Cemetery
for those buried there as a result
of the 1922 Lester Mine Riot,
commonly known as
The Herrin Massacre.

Herrin Historical Soc Christmas Program Energy First Baptist


HAHS President Phil Stucker introduces our program,
History of Energy First Baptist Church

 
Pastor Br. John Yoe discusses the early church and presents the displays of their history.
 


It was originally the Fordville Baptist Church.


 


 







There is a weekly jam session on Thursday evenings in the fellowship hall. 
 
So we did some Christmas Jammin' as part of the program.







AND A VERY GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL.
